Ray went back to Jersey on
that night, too, and his first thought was about his friends. He spent
just two days apart from them but he really missed them already. While he was
on the plane, he couldn’t think of anything else but Sarah. He recalled every
moment of that night during the assembly; he was still moved he became the head
vampire of Jersey, but the memory of him meeting Sarah was even stronger. He
knew he always wanted to be with her, but after a while he became satisfied
with his life with Hannah by his side. He loved Hannah but he never forgot
Sarah, either, and now, as he met her all of his emotions towards her came
back. Ray wanted to be with Sarah again, to hold her in his arms, to love her
with all of his heart but Sarah was too important vampire to be seen with him
and also, Ray had Hannah, who did so much for him.
He tried to forget about Sarah or at least about his
emotions towards her and concentrate on his tasks now, as he was the head of
his community.
First he wanted to meet his friends to tell them the news,
but he really couldn’t find them anywhere. He was looking for them everywhere
they could possibly be but he had no luck. Then he gave it up and headed to an
old, beautiful building. Ray opened up the wooden gate with iron ornaments on
it and entered the warm house illuminated by candles. He smelled the flowery
fragrance of oils and went inside further with excitement.
In the living-room he found Hannah lying on the sofa, her
head tilted back letting her fiery red hair fall about the armrest; her eyes
were closed but Ray knew if she opens them he’ll see the most amazing icy blues
in the world. She had a beautiful black dress on leaving her shoulders free to
be seen and her snow-white thighs were left wihtout any covering as well. Ray
couldn’t do anything else but stare at the perfect body. Soft melody was heard
from the background and his excitement just grew with every moment. Then his
body answered to the invitation of the woman’s body. He went closer, leant down
to the perfect face and pressed his lips gently against Hanna’s dark red lips,
crack open. After a few minutes of kissing they pulled apart, the beautiful
blue eyes opened up and the woman smiled invitingly at Ray. He was amazed by
how her make-up stayed perfect after their kiss, he loved her red lipstick.
Hannah started to carress his face with glistening eyes and pulled Ray on top
of her. They kissed each other passionately and made love the whole night
through… The only problem was that Ray didn’t see Hannah that night. He made
love to Sarah, at least in his mind he saw her under his own body…

Bob just stood in Katie’s doorway trying to find out why
Kate didn’t want to let Millie in.
- Bob, won’t she be mad if she realizes she’s at my flat
after her waking? You know, it’s ok with me but what about her?
Bob sighed in relief and smiled.
- Don’t worry, Kate, everything will be ok. She won’t be
mad, you’ll see tomorrow…
Katie rose an eyebrow and looked at Bob questioningly but
when she realized she won’t get any further explanation, she flung the door
open and let Bob in with Millie in his arms.
She led Bob to Millie’s former bedroom untouched since Mill
left and helped him laying Millie on the bed. They stood above Mill and watched
her sleep a bit then they went out to the kitchen and Kate asked Bob if he
needed a coffee.
- No, thanks. I don’t need as much coffee as the Ways do. –
he smiled and Katie smiled back.
They sat down at the kitchen table and Kate place a tea in
front of Bob then gulped from hers. They sat in silence, thinking.
- So, where did you find Mill? – asked Kate while looking up
from the cup.
- In a bar… She drank a lot, I’m glad I’ve found her. I
don’t even wanna think about what could’ve happen to her if I didn’t go there.
There were lots of drunk men around her and they all wanted to have her… -
Bob’s body was shaking from the thought that Millie could be hurt by those men.
Kate looked at him worried then put her hand on Bob’s with
sympathy. Bob felt the soft, worm skin on his and it calmed him; he looked up
and his eyes met Kate’s brown ones and a weak smile appeared on his face.
- Don’t worry, Bob, she’s in a safe place now, and she’s
really lucky to have you by her side.
- Thank you, Katie. For everything. She’s really lucky
’cause YOU are by her side.
After that they talked about other topics, finished their
tea and when Bob realized how tired Katie was, he stood up and started to say
goodbye.
- Katie?
- Yes?
- Can I have just one more look…
- Of Millie? – Kate interrupted.
- Yes. – he sighed.
- Sure, Bob, you know the way to her room. – said Kate
smiling.
Both of them went in and watched Millie while she was
sleeping. Bob’s eyes were glistening and Kate saw the longing on his face.
- Would you like to stay here?
Bob looked at her with confusion; he didn’t understand what
Kate meant by that.
- Would you like to sleep here, with Millie? – Kate
corrected herself.
- Wouldn’t that be problem for you? – asked Bob surprised. –
Isn’t it a problem if I stay here?
- Of course, not! I see you wanna stay by her side and I
understand it. Bob, you’re always welcome here! And… you’re not the first vamp
to sleep here. – she finished blushing.
- Frankie?
- Yeah… I think that was the pont when our friendship went
wrong with Mill…
- I’m so sorry, Kate!
- It’s not your fault, it’s no-ones fault. It just happened
somehow. – she said sadly.
- I’m sure, everything will be fine with you, girls. – he
winked.
Kate said goodnight and left the room to have some more
sleep and Bob laid next to Mill, wrapped his strong arms around her body and
soon everything went silent.

 Pandora jumped on
Frankie kissing him passionately and then greeted Mikey and Gerard, too. Then
her face showed her curiosity and turned to Frankie.
- I thought you said you have four friends…
- Yeah, Bob and Ray, but they couldn’t come now…
- Ohh… - Pandora acted like she was sorry but actually she
was angry, she wanted to meet all of them, especially Ray…
As the guys went further inside they had strange feeling.
They looked around and saw lots of vampires staring at them; their glances
followed the boys everywhere and they found it awkward. The brothers looked at
each other confused and they didn’t understand how Frank could feel comfortable
like that.
Frank didn’t see anything from the world around him as he
was too busy with entertaining Pandora.
They then talked together a bit but Frank didn’t really pay
attention to his friends, still.
While Pandora was away to bring some mugs of beer the Ways
asked Frank about Pandora and her friends, if he felt uncomfortable there or
not and Frank pulled a confused face. He didn’t understand what his friends’
problem was, he didn’t notice anything from what they’ve said and he told them
they act strangely, not those guys…
Then Pandora came back, handed them their beers and nuzzled
close to Frankie. She started to move close to Frankie’s body, not paying
attantion to Gerard’s and Mikey’s embarrassed glances.
She grabbed Frank’s long coat and almost ripped that off of
him while taking it from him. She then grabbed his black shirt by it’s collar
and pulled Frankie to the dance floor while kissing him passionately.
They started to dance together in a sexual way; it was the
dirtiest dance the guys have ever seen. They almost dropped their beers; they
were shocked by the sight of them. Frankie forgot about everything, where he
was, what he was doing, he just enjoyed the moment.

The Ways, on the other hand, couldn’t believe to their own
eyes, they have never seen Frank like this and actually they didn’t like how he
acted now at all. They liked the almost innocent, kind but cheeky Frank who
they’ve always known, not this man whom Pandora made of him. They couldn’t
believe how she was able to change him like this if they’ve met just twice so
far…
Soon they started to feel really uncomfortable there as the
party got hotter. They saw nothing else but fused bodies, pairs making out
everywhere wether it’s a hetero or a gay couple. They weren’t saints at all but
they found the whole thing disgusting: blood and almost or actually fucknig
vampires everywhere, it was just like an orgy and they didn’t want to
participate…

They went to find Frankie as he disappeared in the meantime,
they wanted to take him home as they knew it wasn’t his media actually.
They were walking further into the crowd but didn’t get far.
A short pink haired girl jumped on Gerard and started to lick his cheek. Her
breath smelled from alcohol and she couldn’t control herself as she obviously
took drugs. Gerard pushed her far away from himself and turned back to Mikey to
check on him. He saw Mikey a few steps away, but he also had company. A young,
drunk man touched his manhood and an older woman already opened her mouth to
taste his neck. Gerard saw that Mikey didn’t get the strength to get rid of all
of them so he went to help him. They sighed in relief when they were free again
but it didn’t last too long. Soon more overmedicated vampires formed circle
around them; olders and young ones, girls and guys, and they all wanted them. They
all wanted to taste them, to have sex with them…
Gerard and Mikey changed glances then one of them caught
sight of Frankie in the crowd. He was already under the effect of some kind of
drug and he also made out with a few vamps.
The brothers realized that they couldn’t do anything at that
time so they left Frankie there and escaped by using their powers…

Chapter 25

The guys saw Frank’s and Katie’s inward scene but they acted
like they’ve seen nothing. Deep inside Gerard didn’t want them to be so close,
but he knew that Frank already had an other woman in his life. Pandora. He didn’t know her yet but he
thought Frankie can fall in love with really nice girls. He just had to look at
Katie, the only problem with her was that she was mortal. But that’s the
biggest problem. So now Gerard thought that his ’young’ friend’s life will turn
to a better one with Pandora by his side. Little he knew that she may cause the
death of all their kind…

Frank asked Katie to meet him next evening, he said he
wanted to show something and Katie said yes.
Frank decided to spend more time with Kate; the fact that he
has a ’girlfriend’ doesn’t mean that he can’t keep in touch with other girls,
mainly if the other girl is Katie, who he spent a lot of beautiful nights with,
and for who he had such strange but sweet feelings.

Soon Bob stood up and said goodbye to everyone.
In the rest of the night, while Bob still sat with them,
Kate saw the concern on his face. She knew that he’s fearing for Millie and she
felt bad inside. Before Bob left the café, he gave a light peck to Kate and
their glance met for one short minute. They didn’t say anything, they didn’t
even have to. Kate knew exactly why Bob wanted to leave and she was glad that
Bob wanted to find Millie.

 Millie was sitting
at the counter in a stinky, smoky and noisy pub. She clenched her fingers
around the glass full of whisky. She already had one double whisky, but she
thought that wasn’t enough. That wasn’t enough to forget. She wanted to forget
her ex-boyfriend, that night with Tony, her arguments with Kate… But mostly she
wanted to undo the last night.

Millie felt really drunk, but not drunk enough to forget
about those horrible things. She felt anger, sadness and disappointment, but
above all of it that she’s helpless. She knew that she can’t control her life,
her acts, her feelings and it scared her the most. She was in Fate’s hands or
you can call it God, some kind of upper power or whatever you want. The most
important thing to Millie was that she didn’t have the right to live a happy,
full life.

 When Bob got out of
the café, he pulled his hood over his head and walked down the street. He
stopped at the corner as he didn’t know where he had to start the search.
He then closed his eyes and tried to concentrate. His senses
vibrated. He smelled a thousand kind of fequences, flavours, heard different
noises and felt millions of heart’s beating. Now his only task was to choose
the one that belongs to Millie and it wasn’t so hard for him. During the night
they’ve spent together, Millie’s every feature burnt into his mind, and the
rhythmical beating of her heart got ingrained in his mind as the most beautiful
melody on Earth.
Bob stood there for a minute, trying to find Millie. His
eyes were closed and he couldn’t see anything, but in the darkness fist sized,
reddish orange outlines started to take shape. These outlines shaped something
living, something, that was moving or let’s say pumping. Those were the
people’s hearts. Bob didn’t see faces or bodies, he just saw hearts, pumping
the blood he needed so much, and felt the essence of their personalities. He
saw those hearts everywhere through his closed eyes: in the flat, lying on the
bed on the fourth floor; in the café around a table (one of which was Katie’s);
on the street moving closer to him or passing him, and then finally he found
one special, sometimes pumping faster, sometimes slowlier and the personality
showing so much sadness, confusion and
still, so much love. That was Millie… surrounded by lots of overused hearts.
Bob knew exactly where he had to start to go and he didn’t hesitate at all;
this night he used most of his special power – his feet didn’t touch the ground
anymore. He moved so fast that no-one was able to notice him; he wanted to be
by Millie’s side as soon as possible.

 Millie knocked back
the last sip of her drink and then she was just gazing into nothing. She didn’t
want to think of her problems but the pictures of those scenes in her head
didn’t leave her alone, she couldn’t get rid of them. She felt drunk enough but
she didn’t want to go back to that filthy motel full of coakroaches.
Mill just wanted to order a beer to finish the night with
when she felt piercing cold hitting the left side of her body. She knew right
at that moment what that was as she’s felt that coldness so many times against
her warm skin by now. Millie turned her head left and saw a big, black
human-like shape sitting next to her. She also saw blondish locks under the
black hood and at that moment she knew she was right.
- Bob?
Bob pulled his hood off of his head and turned to Millie to
hug her. Millie almost flew into his arms and held onto him, starting to cry.
He wrapped his arms around her tight and whispered into her ear.
- Shh, darling, it’s ok. I’m here with you. – he tried to
calm her down and keep her on the chair as she felt dizzy because of the
alcohol and couldn’t keep her balance.
- Bob, I’m so glad you found me! – she sobbed – I felt so
alone here without you.
- I know, honey. But I’m here now, so don’t cry. – he
whispered again – Mill, what happened to you?
- I don’t know, Bob. I just drank too much, I guess.
- No, Mill. I meant, why are you here? I know everything
about last night. I know what happened between you and Katie. The only thing I
don’t know is why.
Millie lifted her head up to Bob’s level, looked into his
eyes seriously, then she turned away.
- Millie, don’t do this, please. You know, I love you, but
Kate is also my friend and you can’t ask me to choose.
Millie turned her head back to Bob to face him and asked
cruelly.
- Who would you choose if you had to?
- You… - he said weakly without any hesitation.
- You don’t have to choose. – she said sadly.
- What do you mean by this? – he asked with concern.
- Nothing… - she turned away again – I order a beer, do you
also want one?
- No, Mill, and you shouldn’t drink more, either. Come, sit
with me to a table and I order a diet soda for you.
- Okay, then… - she sighed and took Bob’s outstreched hands.
When they got their sodas, Bob started everything from the
beginning.
- Millie, sweety, why did you leave Katie? Was it really that
big problem?
- Bob, she knows everything! She knows that we’re together…
She knows!
- Yes, she knows, Millie. She knew it from the beginning.
But she never told it anyone. And you know what? She didn’t deserve what she
got from you because SHE was the one who asked me to take care of you and never
hurt you.
- But Bob, it’s not just that… - she whined – She has such a
perfect life! Everybody thinks that she’s a saint; she didn’t have such a
fucking rude boyfriend as I had; Tony raped me, not her; you, guys, also love
her from the bottom of your heart and no-one’s saying she’s a liar.
- Except for you, Millie, right? – Bob asked slowly.
She looked up from her soda and Bob thought that this
sentence would cause the end of their relationship.
- Yes, except for me… - she said ashamed – I didn’t say her
with the exact words, but yeah, I thought she’s a liar.
- But she’s not…, you know it. And she doesn’t have a
perfect life, it’s far from perfect. Kate doesn’t have friends, her family isn’t around her and
she doesn’t have a boyfriend, either. She’s completely alone, Mill… Just look
inside of you, didn’t you already know it?
He saw Millie’s ashamed face, saw the tears pouring from her
eyes as she listened to him and finally he saw as she nodded with her head, saying
yes.
- Bob, - she sobbed – I’m such a bad person. She didn’t
deserve it and I knew it every time I’ve hurt her. I don’t even know why I did
it to her.
But she was lying again, she knew why she has done that.
Millie didn’t have any problem with Katie until she started her affair with
Bob. It doesn’t matter how hard Katie tried to hide it, Millie knew that it’s
not just friendship the girl felt about Frankie. She didn’t know what it was
exactly but she was sure it’s something more than a simple friendship between
them and she felt it from Frankie’s side, too. When she fell in love with Bob
she knew that it will be a hard relationship. Millie felt ashamed because she
had to lie to her best friend and mostly because she was going out with a
vampire, with Frank’s best friend. She wasn’t alone, like Katie, anymore. She
didn’t know how to solve the problem, so unaware, she thought the offence was
the best form of defence.
- It’s okay, Millie. Everything will be alright. – Bob
smoothed a red, curly lock aside her forehead and gave a gentle kiss to her.
She hugged him while Bob started to carress her back. They
stayed like that for a long time and when finally Millie calmed down, Bob asked
her seriously.
- Where will you spend the night, Mill?
Tears formed in her eyes again.
- Well, I rent a room in a motel but…
- You can’t go back there…
- But Bob, I have nowhere else to go… I can’t stay with you,
either.
- Yes, I know. – he sighed.
He wanted to spend the night with Millie, every night from
this day until eternity. He wanted to hold her in his arms, to protect her, to
take care of her dreams. But he knew he will never be able to do that… not
until Millie is mortal. But he didn’t want her to suffer like he did.
- Mill, do you still like Katie?
Millie looked into his icy blue eyes and nodded slowly,
letting a teardrop escape from her eye.
- Then why don’t you apologize, why don’t you two talk about
it? I’m sure she would be the happiest human on Earth if she could get her best
friend back…
She was thinking for a few minutes then sighed in relief to
say:
- Yes, you’re right… I will do that…

Meanwhile, in the café, the guys started to say goodbye and
left the girls, Jasmin and Kate, there. Jasmin walked Katie home, while talking
about Gerard and Frankie and other very important girly stuff. Frankie led the
guys to a hidden, small warehouse where a very ’hard’ party was held. He wanted
to introduce them to Pandora…

Bob and Millie went back to the motel to pack Mill’s stuff.
While Bob was bothering with the payment, Millie felt really sick from the
alcohol she drank and it just got worse
as the time passed. By the time Bob got back to Millie, the girl had
collapsed onto her suitcases. Bob helped her up, asked her if she could hold on
for five more minutes and when Millie nodded, he went back to the motel to call
a cab. The cab was there in ten minutes and Bob bundled Millie and her stuff
into it. He asked the chauffeur to drive to Kate’s flat then handed him the
money.
When they got there he asked the driver if he could help him
with the suitcases.
- I’m sorry, man, but it’s not the nicest environs. Someone
might break open my car. – the long black-haired driver said apologizing. – But
I can wait for you here with her stuff, if you want.
- Thanks, dude, but you can go. I’ll cope with it.
He then took the suitcases out of the trunk of the cab and
stood Millie up. When the driver drove off, Bob carried the suitcases to the
big, many-storeyed building, then went back for Millie, put her arms around his
neck and lifted her body up. He climbed up to the third floor with Mill in his
arms and rang the bell next to Katie’s door.
Soon a very sleepy Katie appeared in the doorway, rubbing
her eyes and yawning.
- Bob? What happened?
- I’m sorry, Kate, for awake you, but… Could Millie stay
here tonight? – said Bob, while looking down to Millie’s sleeping face.
- Bob, I don’t know…

Chapter 24

Next day Katie worked in the music store. The day went
slowly, and as she was thinking about last night, it was just worse. She didn’t
know what to do; the fact that her closest friends were killers scared her to death,
but still, she knew she needed them. They have never hurt her, not like Millie…
She decided that she’ll ignore last night and she’ll act
like before, when everything was easy…
The only thing she couldn’t get over was Millie, and how she
left her.

It was 9 pm when she arrived at the café. She wanted to meet
Mikey there, but everyone was sitting there around one table. Everyone, except
for Frankie.
Mikey greeted her and sat her down next to him. He leant
closer to Katie and whispered something to her.
- I told him everything yesterday. I didn’t find him there,
but later we met and he said it was ok. Are you OK now?
- Thank you, Mikey! – she whispered back – Oh, yeah, I’m ok.
– she smiled. – I don’t know why I was so psyched out yesterday. I may be just
too tired. You know, my job and these meetings at night…
- Oh… We’ve never thought about how exhausted you can be, I guess. We shouldn’t take you
out all the time. – he said with a guilty face.
- No, no, Mikey! I’m glad you invite me. Otherwise I’d be
alone. You know, I don’t have friends, just you, guys. – she whispered again.
- Yes, I know… But I’ll never understand why… You’re so kind
and have such a big heart… I mean, you… you don’t deserve it.
- Don’t worry about it, Mikey! I’m fine. As long as you’re
with me I’ll be fine. – she stopped for a moment, thinking. – And if you have
to leave me for some reason, I’ll be fine, still. But to tell you the truth, I
don’t wanna lose you.
- You’ll never lose us, sweetie. – he hugged Katie.
- Thank you, Mikey. It means a lot to me.

- Hey, Katie!
- Hiya, Bob!
- I’m sorry for interrupting you, but I really do have to
talk about something with you.
Kate pulled a confused face but she knew exactly what he
wanted to talk about. She knew the subject, at least.
- No problem, Bob, we can talk now. – she turned to Mikey –
I’ll come back soon. – she smiled, then she left with Bob.
Bob led her to a dark corner of the place and looked into
Katie’s eyes seriously.
- Kate, I know you don’t really get on well with Millie
lately, but still, do you know where she can be right now?
- You see it well, Bob, we don’t get on well, and that’s
still not the perfect expression for the situation. – she stopped for a minute
and looked deep into his eyes.
- Bob, I don’t know anything about Millie, she’s not staying
at my flat anymore. She moved to somewhere else. – she said with noticeable
sadness in her voice and on her face.
- B- but what happened? – Bob couldn’t believe to his own
ears.
- I don’t know… Yesterday I saw you saying goodbye to each
other and I told her how cute you two are. She became angry, I mean REALLY
angry, she started to shout and said that it’s not my business, and to leave
her alone and other kind things to me. Then she packed her stuff and left.
That’s all.
She gave a painful look to Bob, she thought it was just her
fault.
- I’m sorry, Bob! If I didn’t say anything, it wouldn’t
happen… - she had tears in her eyes.
- Hey, hun, don’t cry! It’s not your fault at all! Don’t
blaem yourself… - he whispered into Katie’s ear. – You know I love her, but I
have to admit that she acts really weirdly lately. With you, at least. Katie
didn’t say anything, just pressed her forehead to Bob’s chest, sobbing.
Bob rubbed her back and tried to calm her down.
- It’s ok, Katie…. Shhh…. I really don’t understand why she
treats you like this. She has never told me anything about it.
- It’s not just about me, Bobo… Because now… you don’t know
where she is, either. I fear for her and I don’t want you to suffer because of
my mistake, either. I don’t want you to lose her. – she sniffed.
- Everything will be alright … Don’t worry, I’ll find her, I
just have to follow my cold heart.
They stayed there for a few minutes to calm down.
- Now dry your eyes, darling. Don’t let anybody see you
weak. You’re a strong woman, stronger, than anyone else I’ve ever known.
Kate looked up and smiled. She wiped her tears away, took a
big breath and let the sadness and anger go away from her body with the used
air. She then straightened Bob’s shirt and they went back to their friends.

By the time Katie and Bob got back, Frankie has already
arrived and took a seat next to Gerard. Katie didn’t noticed him at first, so
she kept on with the conversation with Mikey on her other side.
When Frank looked at her face, he saw the sadness on it, he
saw her bloodshot eyes showing she has cried before. No-one else noticed it,
just Frankie.
He stood up and walked up to Katie, then stopped behind her.
He put his hands onto her shouldrs, leant down to her and whispered to her.
- Hey, Katie!
She juped a little bit but soon she relaxed as she saw
Frank’s angelic face next to hers.
- Hi, Frankie! – she was happy to see him, Frank could tell
it from her glistening eyes and wide smile.
- I’m sorry for scaring you, it wasn’t on purpose.
- No problem, Frankie.
- Don’t you wanna sit with me? – he asked with a puppy face.
Seeing him like that made Kate smile even more.
- Of course, I wanna! – she replied, then went back with
Frankie where he sat before.
When they settled down at the table, Frank turned to her.
- Why did you cry, hun? Is it because of what you saw last
night? Mikey told me everything. I’m sooo sorry, Katie! – he was ashamed.
- I didn’t cry, Frankie… - she lied.
- Yes, you did, I see it in your eyes. You can fob the
others but not me. I know you too well…
- Ok, then… yes, I cried. But not because of last night. Or
I should rather say that it’s not becaus of you, not because of vampires.
Frank, when I saw you in the alley with that girl I was fucking scared. I
couldn’t believe, that was you… I mean, you’re so different with me. I’ve
always known you kill people, but somehow I’ve never thought about it. Seeing you and that girl there made
me think I could be her next time… - she looked away as she was ashamed of she
has just said. – I didn’t know what to think about you and the guys anymore but
then I met Mikey. We talked a lot, then I was thinking about it and now I’m
over it. I totally accept what you are, finally. I know you won’t hurt me in
any way, right? – she looked deep into his big, hazel eyes.
He didn’t say anything for a while, he was gazing into her
eyes. Then he leant closer and started to carress her face, still not saying
anything. Finally he hugged Katie tight and whispered into her ear.
- I’d never hurt you, Katie… - he squeezed his eyes, he felt
sorrow deep in his heart. Then he opened his eyes to let a teardrop escape from
it, to fall down on the ground, and closed them again, still holding on to
Katie.
- Never, Katie…. Never!

Chapter 23

Ray was gazing at the girl in front of him not believing to his own eyes.
- Sarah? - he asked again.
- Yes, Ray, it's me. - she smiled.
They tried to call a halt to themselves, not to hug each other passionately but they failed it... at least they didn't hold on to each other for too long. When they pulled apart they were just standing there, smiling awkwardly.
Sarah looked exactly the same as last time they met. Ray was looking at her beautiful face and a few moments later he was in the past. He was in Puerto Rico, 324 years earlier. He was brought up there. And there was Sarah, that sweet, 20- year-old girl, who he loved since he was 15. Sarah moved there when she was 5 and her father was a deputy of America. When they were kids they played together; she taught him for English and he helped her with Spanish, and when they were old enough they started to date. They were different, the girl was rich while Ray was from a poor family, but their parents didn't mind their love, they thought, that was a strong relationship and they were happy for them.
Then he remembered that night... when a carnival was held in the village. He was 22, Sarah was 20 and they wanted to get married next month. That was a hot, steamy summer night; they were having a lot of fun. He remembered exactly what Sarah wore that night; the flimsy dress in dark red colour, and the red fillet in her hair matched with her sunburnt skin perfectly. She looked like an original Spanish girl. He remembered her wide smile, her glistening eyes, then he heard her scream... Once she was alive and in the next minute he saw her lying on the ground, blood pouring from her side... and she wasn't moving anymore.
This scene made his tears welling up in his eyes.
- I thought you died... - he whispered - ... when the bandits came that night and killed a lot of people... I saw you lying there, not breathing...
- I thought, I died, too. And I thought you also died, at least by now... Ray, how did you become a vampire?
Ray braced himself up and started to explain his past.
- When they destroyed the village I had nothing left there, you were gone, my parents died, too. I tried to move on and live by myself but I couldn't. Everything reminded me of you, all of the red dresses I saw on girls, every corner of the buildings where we shared stolen kisses; I got to a point when I wanted to kill myself or I had to change everything. So I moved to America. I lived on a farm with an old, married couple and worked for them. But I just couldn't get you out of my head. Then one night I lay on my bed dreamless, so I got up and started to drink to get rid of my memories. When I was quite drunk I went out and sat down on the stairs of the stoop, still holding a bottle of wine. I was gazing at the deep blue sky, admiring the sparkling stars, when I heard some noise from the stable. I grabbed a gun with my free hand and started to walk up to the stable. When I looked inside I saw one of the horses lying on the ground scared to death, and a shape was leaning on it. By the time I realized it was a woman, she already finished what she was doing and looked up to me. That's when I became scared myself, too. Blood was running down on her chin and it wasn't her blood, it was obvious. I looked at the horse and its neck was covered in blood, too, but the horse had already died. Then I pulled the trigger, nothing. Loaded the gun again, shot, nothing and she just became angrier after every single bullet. She then attacked me but didn't kill me immediately. She spoke to me, she told me how my life is nothing, asked me to join her and be her partner, not to struggle any longer and... forget you. She read my mind, she knew everything about me, about us. But I didn't want to be like her, I looked at her with disgust with her face covered in blood, even though she was beautiful, by the way, and I didn't want to kill for joy, of course. When she looked me in the eyes and realized I wasn't on her side, she became angrier than ever and jumped on me. When I woke up I looked around and I was in an old ranch. She was sitting on the floor in the corner of the room, covered in darkness. I could only see her lightening icy blue eyes, staring at me. I was dying and she was waiting...
I think she was thinking whether she should kill me or not. I was suffering so much, I felt weak, I felt how all of my energy goes away and that I could die in every moment. Then I blacked out but before it could happen, I saw her standing up from the corner of my eye. I thought I died in that moment... but once I woke up. I was in a nice room and she was by my side. I was confused so I wanted to ask her what have happened but I was too weak. I couldn't even open my mouth but she knew what I wanted. She explained everything, but she was whispering. First I didn't know why, but when she finished her monolog I realized why she was acting like that. She told me that she cut her wrist and made me drink her blood. I was shocked. I didn't want to be a vampire... Really.
My senses were stronger and after a day I felt stronger myself, too. We talked about the vampires' life, then she asked me about you and I told her everything. She understood it and accepted it, as well. It was hard at the beggining. I didn't want to kill but I had to see reason that I have to if I wanna survive. After a while we got together and we are partners since then.

He felt nervous and guilty inside telling his first love that he's with an other woman. He saw Sarah tilting her head but she wasn't angry, he didn't see sadness on her face either. She just smiled with that sweet smile, she has only, and hugged him.
- I'm so happy, you're alive!
- Yeah, I'm glad to see you, too! - he smiled awkwardly.
He then looked into her jet-black eyes seriously.
- Sarah, what happened to you? How can you be here? Don't get me wrong, I'm the happiest man on earth to talk to you now, but I thought you died.
Sarah just smied at him kindly and started her story.
- Well, I wasn't dead yet when you all left, I guess. Actually I still don't really know everything about that day, but I know that I awoke in a big, soft four-poster bed. Everything was dark and there was he by my side. Blaise. He told me that he found me there half dead, and he knew that he could save me just in one way and from that day I'm a vampire. We lived together since then, but we're not together as lovers. It's like a father-daughter relationship. He taught me everything, more than other vampires know, I guess, and he also told me that I'll be his heir when his time is up, and I have to be the head of our society. He told me that I'm the only person he can trust in. - she finished blushing and falling her eyes. She clapsed her hands in front of herself and looked up at Ray finding him almost crying.
- Why didn't you looked for me then? You don't know how much I missed you and how much I suffered. - he said quaveringly.
- I couldn't... I wasn't allowed... Blaise told me that it wouldn't be good for any of us... - she whiped a teardrop away from her eye - ...I was a vampire and you were still mortal... I'm sorry, Ray!
- You're right. I'M sorry! It's over, anyways. - he sighed.
- Yes, it's over... And we both have a new life. - they both smiled weakly, then joined a group of Sarah's friends...

Millie caught a cab and went to a small motel. She checked in, grabbed the key from the counter and walked to her new 'home', followed by the oblique glance of the fat, stinky owner.
When she opened up the door and stepped inside, she couldn't do anything else but sigh in disgust. It was a messy, dirty and stinky room with a shower and a toilet and a small kitchen-like corner... full of coackroaches. She tried to ignore the mess and the noise that her new 'pets' made, clenched her eyelids and tried to sleep. She thought of Bob to have a nice dream...

Chapter 22.

Mikey started to walk Katie home and asked her again, if she
wanted to talk about her problem, but Kate didn't want to tell it
Mikey. She thought that she would hurt his feelings if she told him
everything.
- So? Don't you wanna talk about it?
- No. - she answered shortly.
- But why not? It would be better after talking about it. Or don't you trust me? - he rose his eyebrow.
- Of course, I do, but...
- But what, Katie? I mean, if it's something that I don't have to know, then tell me that, but don't search for pretexts!
- No, it's not a secret or something like that. I just don't want you to feel uncomfortable.... It's just...
Mikey stopped her and looked into her eyes.
- You can tell me anything, Katie, you have to know it. And you can't make me feel uncomfortable, I promise.
- Fine... But promise me one more thing. - She looked deep into his
greenish eyes and pulled a serious face. - Let me know if I hurt you or
I put you in danger. Any of you. Could you promise me this?
- Yes, I'll tell you if you want it. But really, I don't think you
could hurt any of us in any way. You're just too good to hurt our
emotions.
- Ok. - Kate sighed. - Then I tell you why you found me there like that.
Katie told him everything about Frank and that girl in that alley-way.
She told him her feelings, that she became scared and confused, and she
also told Mikey that she's always known how things go with vampires,
but seeing Frankie, one of her friends, killing that girl, shocked her.
Mikey just stood there, trying to read her emotions as she didn't look him in the eyes.
- Mikey, I know you're not beasts, I wouldn't be with you now
otherwise, but... - tears welled up in her eyes - ... but I shouldn't
have seen that scene. Because now... I can't avoid the fact that
actually you all are... killers.... - she whispered. She was gazing at
the ground, sniffing. She didn't want to see Mikey's hurt face. Then,
to her great surprise, Mikey lifted her face up, wiped her tears away
and pulled her in his arms. He rested his chin on the top of her head
and rubbed her back. Katie's tears were pouring now and she felt so
guilty at that moment. She just told this guy that she thinks they're
killers, and Mikey just embraces her like no-one else before.
- I'm so sorry, Mikey! - she sobbed.
- For what? It's normal to see us like that. We ARE killers, we can't
help it. And what is more, it was strange that you didn't say it
earlier! And I'm a little bit worried about Millie, too.
Katie looked up, still holding on to Mikey, and her face was straight.
- Yeah, me too. I don't know how she will react when she realizes it. You know, we need time to grasp what things really are.
- Yes, but you don't have to worry, we won't kill such sweet girls like you two. - he smiled.
- I know... - she smiled back and burried her face into his chest again.
They stayed like that for a few minutes and then they pulled apart. Mikey saw that she was really tired, so he walked her home.
- Thank you, Mikey, for everything!
- Anytime, Katie! - he smiled. - And thank you, for being by my side, when I broke down. - his face went straight.
- No problem. Will you tell me once?
- Yes, I will, but not now. You need some rest.
- You're right. - she smiled - I could fall asleep right here.
- Then go, you silly girl! - he giggled and pulled her in a hug. - Night, Katie! -he whispered and kissed her forehead.
- Night, Mikey! - she smiled and started to walk towards the gate. Then she turned around and called after him.
- Mikey! Could you do something for me? Could you tell Frankie what
have happened and that I'm really sorry for not going to our date?
- Sure, hun. And don't worry, I'm sure he'll understand it! - then he
smiled promisingly and turned back. He headed to the place where Katie
and Frankie supposed to meet.
Katie was searching for her keys and once she managed to slid it to
it's place, she pulled the heavy gate to let herself in. She just
wanted to close the big, wooden gate, when she saw two figures in the
darkness on the corner of the street across hers. It was Bob and
Millie, and they obviously said goodbye between kisses and hugs. Katie
smiled to herself of the sight of the two lovebirds. She thought that
they were really cute together, that they were meant to be.
She went up to her flat and started to undress herself to have a
shower, when she heard the door open and close. She went out of the
bathroom in her undies to see Millie.
- Hey, Millie! - she smiled.
- Hey... - that was Millie's only answer and she also told that one
simple word in a bored tone, then she looked away to finish the
'conversation'.
Katie was a bit disillusioned but she still tried to have a normal conversation.
- So, how was your day? - Millie sighed and rolled her eyes as she realized, Katie won't give up.
- Nothing special. - she answered.
- I saw you with Bob and you're so sweet together! - she smiled friendly.
Mill's face turned into red and she had glints in her eyes from anger.
She just stood there showing her back to Kate and tried to hold herself
back.
- Millie, what's the matter?
Millie kept silent until the words started to flood from her mouth. She
faced Katie and her face became ugly because of the anger; it was just
like the devil's face.
- What's the matter?!... What's the matter?! - she repeated.
Katie started to back away as Millie scared her with the loud shouting.
- Who do you think you are to watch my every movement? Why do you think
that you have the right to step in my privte sphere and ruin
everything? If you don't get Frankie and you're not happy, then no-one
else can be, huh? Why do you want to spoil my happiness, you whiney
slut? - she bowled with one breath.
- Millie...
- You don't have to say anything. You'll never find anyone because of
your rotten personality. No-one can stay in a room with someone, who
doesn't respect someone else's privacy and emotions. And I fucking
don't wanna live together with you anymore!
- But Mill... - Kate didn't finish the sentence. She was speechless,
tears running down on her face. She watched Millie packing her
suitcases, and deep inside she knew she has to stop Millie, but she
couldn't move.
When Millie finished with packing her stuff she grabbed her suitcases
and her coat, and stormed out of the flat. Before she shot the door
behind herself, she hissed one more thing with a contemptuous look.
- You'll fucking die ALONE! - and with that she shot the door and started to go away not looking back anymore.
Kate watched her leaving the flat while Millie's last sentence echoed
in her mind. She then went into the living-room and collapsed on the
couch between sobs.
- She's right, I'll fucking die alone... - she whispered while she
squatted on the couch. She put her head to her knees while she embraced
them , and just sobbed endlessly until she cried herself to sleep. But
she couldn't sleep peacefully, she had the worst nightmare a person can
have.
'She stood in the West Hudson Park, on the bridge over the lake
where Matt attacked her last time. All of her friends were there, even
Tony, who she hated actually. They looked at her submissingly and shook
their heads. Kate looked at them dazedly as she didn't know what their
problem was and she even had misgivings. Then she saw Tony winking at
her, sending her a disgusting kiss, then turning around and walking
away. Then came Millie with Bob; Mill gave her a contemptuous look
while Bob looked at her pitifully. Then they also turned around and
walked out of sight. The same thing went on with the others, with
Mikey, Gerard, Jasmin, Ray and her family, too, with the same pitiful
look.
Finally she was standing there facing with Frankie. He hasitated a bit,
then walked up to her, kissed her on her forehead slowly. He looked
into her eyes bitterly and hugged her. He held her tight and Kate held
on to him not wanting that moment to pass. But then he pushed her away
despite Katie's grip, turned and disappeared in the far distance. Katie
was standing in the middle of the bridge, completely alone. She
couldn't see anything as suddenly everything was shrouded in fog and
icy wind started to blow. She started to shiver and the cold penetrated
into her bones as she wore nothing else but a white, lace-dress. She
put her arms around herself to protect herself from the cold, hunkered
down pressing her back against the bridge's barrier and her eyes filled
up with tears. She burst out sobbing and lay down on the bridge. When
her sob calmed down, she stood up with resolution in her eyes and
climbed over the barrier.
Now she was standing above the lake ready to jump. She could swim but
she knew that in the icy water she wouldn't survive. She recalled every
happy moment of her life, but it didn't take too much time as she
didn't have too much of them actually. The thought of it pissed her off
even more and it just made her decision even stronger. She took one
last breath, opened her arms wide, looked up to the jet-black sky then
down to the foggy lake and her feet left the ground...
She then saw a misty graveyourd in her dream. She saw a different
gravestone from the others. It was different, because it wasn't treated
well, no flowers but lots of weed on it. It was obvious that no-one
ever visited that tomb. She looked at it for a while then stepped
closer and removed the ivy from it. She ran her fingers over the
letters and realized in fright that she read her own name on it.'
Katie woke up between sobs, her whole body covered in cold sweat and her heart beating faster than ever.
She realized in that moment that this dream can be her future once...

Chapter 21

Blaise, the oldest vampire, took his hood off and motioned the crowd to calm down. He nodded contentedly and started to speak.
- Welcome everyone in our beautiful mansion on the occasion of our 526th meeting! I'm glad that everyone is here again, and we can share our experiences of the past year. But first of all, we have to talk about some very iportant issues that happened/happens lately. As you may already know it, our kind starts to die out. We make a lot of big mistakes and it causes our death. There are hunters out there, but the sad thing is that they are from our kind too. They are the new generation and they think that our time is up, and they have to change everything. And they think that they can make changes just if they kill the older vampires. They want a revolution, they want to rule the world, so now they started to kill our best friends, our loved ones, even our enemies, but still, in this 'war' our enemies are on our side. In the past year this underground movement killed 171 mates of ours and they won't stop until all of us are dead, so now this is time to join against them and get the controlling back. We have to organise everything: we have to have 'soilders' who will defend the community in every state, and from now every head vampire have to write a report in each month about the occurances, even if they don't seem to be important. You have to write down every death that happens in your community, every odd thing, even if somone is missing for a day and it can't explain where it was. Everything. We we'll have a meeting in every second month, but if you feel like you have to tell us something immediately, you can appear before the six of us, of course. And the other new rule is that every single person of your community have to write a diary. They have to write in it every day, they can note down their feelings, too, if they feel like, but they have to write something every day. Even you, the leaders, have to do it and send us all of them in each month.
So, that was one side of the problem. The other one is, and it's really baffling, our kind is dying because of our bunk. Or let's say, their bunk. Because of their weekness and their 'emotions'. All of us should know by now, that the children of the darkness can't have emotions, it kills us, nowadays literally, too. A lot of them falls in love with humans and this is the biggest guilt in our world, because the mortals will round upon us after all. They use us and then throw us away as we were nothing. These mixed couples mess up everything in our 'society', and they put our kind in danger. You know why we have enemies, and this exactly is why. And I have to admit that they are right, the whole thing about the mixed couples is ridiculous, we don't need mortals to make us happy, and you, leaders, can't allow it! If you catch someone on act, you have to report it to us, and there's no exception, even if the person is your best friend!
Okay, so this was the bad part of my speech. Now change the subject for something good! As you may know, our beloved Alexander, the head vampire of New Jersey, died this year. It's really sad, he was a good friend of ours and he was an amazing leader, too. He is a victim of the mentioned underground movement. But now mine is the honor to introduce you the new head vampire of New Jersey. Mr. Raymond Manuel Toro-Ortiz, please stand up!
Ray was surprised and when he stood up, everyone could notice it by his confused look. He bowed and sat back to his seat as soon as he could, he didn't like the attention. But it was late, the person he watched all the time noticed him and couldn't take it's eyes off of him.
Ray felt uncomfortable now, as everyone was looking at him, and he knew that he got the attention of that person, too. He was excited, he wanted to talk to that someone so bad that he almost got up and ran to it.
- So, now, as every important role is discussed, we can eat. The rest of our job will be done tomorrow, so now just enjoy the night! Bon appetit!
They all started to eat, but contrary to popular belief, they didn't drink blood at the table. The dinner wasn't for feeding them but for their joy. They ate the most delicious steaks, with fresh garnish and, of course, with the most expensive wines.
When everyone finished, they started to move in the room, everyone found the old friends of theirs and started to talk. Ray tried to get closer to the person, he was interested in, but it wasn't that easy. Finally he managed to reach the Old Vampires and said thank you to Blaise. This way he stood almost in front of that person, but first he had to have a conversation wiht Blaise about his promotion.
After a few polite sentences Blaise called out for someone and a black eyed girl with straight, light brown hair appeared. Blaise wrapped his arm around her waist, pecked her on her cheek and told her to entertain Ray, then he left. The girl stood in front of Ray with blazing eyes, but Ray could tell that she was nervous and confused at the same time.
- Sarah... Is it really you?

Meanwhile, back in Jersey, Katie was preparing for her meeting with Frankie. When she was ready, she headed to the place they supposed to meet. She arrived there early and she didn't want to sit in there alone, so she decided to go for a little walk. As she was walking on the street, she passed an alley-way and something aroused her interest. She stopped there and just glared at the dark alley-way. Kate saw a man holding a young girl in his arms, and it seemed that he was kissing her neck. She didn't want to seem rude nor she wanted to bother them, so she decided to move on, when she saw something scary.
The man tilted his head back, moaned in pleasure and then he dropped the girl on the floor as it was a ragdoll. Katie was shocked and frightened, but she couldn't move. She knew exactly what was going on, and she knew, she shouldn't react like this, as Frankie and the others do the same for their living, but she couldn't do anything. Then, when she focused on the man, she realized that it was Frankie itself. Her eyes started to fill with tears and she couldn't do anything, but run. She wanted to get as far from that monster as she could.
She couldn't imagine, how he could do that to that girl. She thought that it could be her, too. And what if one day he can't call a halt to himself and he dries her. She was so confused and sad, that she couldn't think of going back to him. Kate stopped a few blocks away, leant her back against a wall and sobbed like a little child. Then she sat down on the ground and her sob became hysterical. She didn't know why it affected her like this, and couldn't stop her tears running from her eyes. She just couldn't imagine her sweet Frankie doing that to someone, and mostly not with so much joy. She was grim.
Kate was deep into her thoughts when from out of nowhere someone stood in front of her and reached his hand out for her. She looked up and she was surprised by the view of Mikey. He knelt down to her level and held her tight. After a while her sobbing calmed, but she was still holding on to Mikey. He was rubbing her back gently to comfort her, than he started to speak.
- Hey, hun, what's the problem?
- Nothing, Mikey. - she sniffled.
- You don't want to talk about it? - he asked almost whispering.
- Not now, if it's not problem.
- It's ok, I just don't wanna see you crying. - He faced her and wiped her tears away with his thumb. She smiled at him and he helped her up.
- Do you want me to walk you home?
- Uhm, Mikey, couldn't you just stay with me for a while? Or do you have something important to do? I understand it then, and I go home.
- Do you really want me around? - he asked thinking.
- Yeah, if it's ok.
- Well we can go for a walk then.
- That would be nice. Thank you, Mikey! - she smiled.
- No problem, Katie. - he smiled back.
They started to walk away. They were walking for a few minutes when Mikey realized that they were on the way he knew so well. On the way that leads to the house he used to stand in front. They reached the house now, and he couldn't do anything but stop. It was a rutin for him for so long time.
- Why did we stop here, Mikey?
Kate didn't get the answer. She looked up to his face and she found him gazing into the house in front of them. She followed his glance and she caught sight of a long, black haired woman through the window. She was having a late dinner with a man, who probably was her husband. The woman was middle-aged, but she still looked beautiful.
- Alicia... - Mikey whispered.
Katie looked at him and she saw tears welling up from his eyes.
- Mikey? - she called him apprehensively.
She didn't get an answer again, but Mikey turned away and started to cry silently. Then his cry turned inot sobbing and he broke inside. Kate turned him around and hugged him warmly. She carressed his face until he calmed down a little bit.
- We should go, Mikey. It would be better for you. - she said commiseratingly.
She understood everything without words and she really felt sorry for Mikey.
He nodded and they started to walk away. Mikey looked back to the window once more and wiped away one more teardrop...

Chapter 20 - second half

Ray's plane landed at about five pm at Heathrow Airport and as it was still winter, everything was covered in darkness by that time. It wasn't easy to get a seat on the plane where he was protected from the sun. He told the crew that he had a very serious and rare illness. He explained them that when the sunshine reaches his skin it burns him, so they were so kind that they let him sit next to the airhostess where the sun couldn't get in. He slept the whole trip through and when he reached London he was completely relaxed. He went straight to the hotel and checked in. Ray still had time to prepare for the assembly so he enjoyed the hotel's services. Then, when it was time, he got dressed and headed to the mansion on the edge of London where the assembley was held. There were hundreds of vampires: olders and youngers, males and females. Ray was led to the big, old ballroom and he was sat down at a table at the back of the room. He arrived there earlier so he still had time to look around in the ballroom for familiar faces seen long ago. He scanned all of them one by one: he could hardly recognize any old friends from the hundreds of the pale faces.
Most of the vampires were dressed in balck, no-one knows why but it was natural for them to use that colour in any form. Most of them wore simple clothes, like black trousers and black sweater. There were some people who wore those old-fashioned clothes from centuries before. For example there was a man who wore purple velvet roundabout, lacy muffler in his neck, he also had tight, middle length, velvet pants, white tights and lacquer shoes.
Then there were those, who wore suits only. Different types of them but just suits, nothing else. They believed that an important and gentle vampire always has to be elegant, and it was a great opportunity to show their perfection: their excellent taste in clothes, it doesn't matter how expensive it is or how hard it is to get one from the best collection; in hair, they liked the simple, solid hairdo. And they used the most expensive parfumes and accessories, of course.
The youngest ones, who stand for an other group of the vampires, they were the fashionable ones. Those, who wore leather clothes, had coloured, punk hair, or maybe they wore the most fashionable and sexiest clothes to seduct their victims.
Finally, there was the rest, who wore casual clothes, and Ray did so. He had black, tight jeans on with a T-shirt and a black hoodie. He always was like that, no finery, no acting, just the way he was.
But the differences didn't show just in the style, these vampires were from all over the world. From Europe, Asia, Africa, The North Pole and South-America there was one deputy from each country, and from the United States they sent someone from every state. From New Jersey it was Ray, because the former head vampire in Jersey was muredered and this way Ray became the oldest one. He wasn't the head vampire yet, but everyone in Jersey could tell that he will be promoted in this year. He was 346 year-old, so he was experienced enough to fill this part.
He was still sitting at his table with four other vampires but he didn't know them so he didn't even really care about them. Ray looked around in the room, he learned every detail of it and he was amazed by the view. Some of the furniture were older than him, but mainly they were from late Renessaince and from the Baroque era. Everything was richly adorned, there were a lot of gold or gilded ornaments in that room, the cutleries were silver, the plates were original Chinese ones and they served the champagne in crystal glass. The furniture was made of expensive kind of wood and the drapes were even more expensive. The windows were as tall as the walls, covered by dark red curtains and also with white lace ones. He saw a lot of expensive paintings on the walls from different painters and, of course, from different era. The floor was covered by Persian carpets and about twenty big crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, too. There were treasure enough for a whole clan just here, and it was just one room out of the 43 in this huge building. The owners could solve the whole Third World's problem with these treasures - he thought with reason.

When everyone arrived, the servants - who were mortals by the way, but their owner never hurt them, as he needed them - closed the eight big doors with two wings and everyone turned to the podium at the front of the room where a long table was set, covered with red, silk tablecloth. A few minutes later a much smaller door opened at the corner of the ballroom and six tall men came in one by one, dressed in black, and all of them covered in black, silk capes. They were followed by four ladies but without the whole magnificence.
Ray's intent glance stopped at one of the people entering the room. His eyes followed the person's every movement until it sat down at the huge table on the podium. He was just gazing at the person, his face was like he has seen a ghost: his normally pale skin became even more whiter, he stared round eyed and he was paralyzed completely. He could hardly wait for the speech to be finished even it hasn't started yet. Then the oldest vampire - who was the leader of all of them - stood up and greeted the audience...

Chapter 20 - first part

Frank spent the day at Pandora's flat in bed with her but it wasn't romantic at all. She turned to her side, showing her back to Frankie and fell asleep in five minutes. Frank was staring at the ceiling for a few minutes, thinking about the night and the girl next to him. He didn't know how their 'relationship' will go on but he wanted it to work out. Then he crawled closer to Pandora and wanted to wrap his arm around her but she didn't let him hug her, so Frank turned to his side and tried to sleep but the restful dream didn't come easily. He had doubts, he didn't know why the girl was so dismissive now.
By the time he woke up, Pandora disappeared and left nothing there but a note. It said that she had some personal business and they would meet later. Frank grimaced, crumpled the paper and grabbed his clothes. He took a shower to wash the sweat, the blood and who knows what else off of his body and got dressed.
He couldn't put his boxers on as they were torn and with no underwear it was really uncomfortable wearing his tight, black jeans. He thought of the moment when Pandora ripped his boxers off of him and left the flat smirking.

- Hey, Frankie!
- Hey, Gerard!
- What's that wide grin on your face? - asked Gerard sitting on a bench in the West Hudson Park.
- Uhm, I don't know. - he replied with an even bigger grin.
- C'mon, Frank! Tell us! - said Mikey with a smile.
- Nothing, really. - he didn't want to tell it yet.
- Frank, don't do this to us.
- Do what?
- Don't hide anything from us. - Bob answered with a 'red' face as he was ashamed of knowing he already hid something important, that actually he was with Millie.
Frank was staring at the ground, thinking hard if he should tell them or not.
- Ok, but you have to swear that you won't tell it anyone. Not even Jasmin, Katie, Millie or anyone else.
- Alright, Frankie, just tell us right now!
A smile appeared on Frank's face again.
- So, last night I met...a girl. Pandora, that's her name.
- AWWW! - they said in unison.
- I was afraid of hearing Kate's name. - Gerard told him relieved.
- No, she's not a human.
- And what did you do? - asked Ray curiously.
Frank's face turned red or rather a pale pink.
- That's not your business, guys! - he smiled in embarrassement.
He didn't like talking about someone's private life, not to mention his own sexual life.
- You couldn't give us a better answer, dude! - Gerard smirked.
- Ok, guys, leave him alone! - Ray put his arm around Frankie's shoulder with a friendly smile.
Gerard was glad that his friend took his advice, he thought that this is the best that Frank can do, forget Kate and find someone from his kind.
- Look! There they come!
- Who? - asked Frank.
- The girls. Millie and Jasmin.
- I also told Katie to come here and hang with us but she'll come later. She's still working. - Bob added.
- Ok, ok, I still have to apologize for the called off meeting.
- You're right, Frank. - Bob gave him a serious look.

By the time Katie got there, they were already chatting and joking. She didn't know who to join. Frank was with Millie and Bob and as she and Millie still had problems, she didn't want to bother them. Jasmin and Gerard seemed to have a serious conversation and Ray and Mikey were into something, too. She stood there but none of them seemed to care about it. Finally Mikey looked up and told her to sit next to him.
She sat between them and joined the conversation. They were talking about a meeting where Ray was going to. They didn't talk too much as Ray had to leave to reach his plane to London. They all said goodbye to him and continued their conversation where they finished it. Mikey and Kate were talking about her job and stuff like that and soon Jasmin and Gerard joined them, too.
Before he started to go 'home', Frank asked Katie if she wanted to meet him next day to make up for the called off date and he also apologized for not meeting her last night, of course.
She said yes and started to walk home with Mikey by her side. Frank headed to the place where he had to meet Pandora, Bob and Millie left separately to maintain the respectabilities of their friendship but they met a few minutes later to spend the night together. Jasmin was escorted by Gerard but he really went home after Jasmin entered her house, they weren't together as a couple yet, but they were on their way to become one...

To be continued...
Tomorrow comes the other part of this chapter :)

Chapter 19

- What would you like to talk about?
- About you. About you and Millie. I guess, you already know what I mean.
- Not really. - Bob pretended to be confused. He hoped that Kate didn't know about their affair, and how could she know it unless Millie told her. But he couldn't imagine Millie telling her as he already knew about their argument. Millie told him everything, her feelings, her doubt about their relationship, not that she was scared, because she wasn't, but she didn't think that this love could survive everything. She thought that the distance between their worlds will kill their love before it could grow big. So now Bob was nervous not knowing the aim of this conversation, but he could hide his feelings, of course.
- I'm talking about you and Millie having a love affair.
This sentence affected Bob as if he had been poured down with a big bucketful boiling water. She knew about them and now it was unchangeable. Bob was speechless, confused and angry at the same time and now he wasn't able to hide it.
- Bob, don't worry, I don't have any problem with it and I won't tell it anyone, I just wanna talk about it with you.
- Ok, ok - said Bob with a relieved tone - but how do you know about us?
- Dear Bobo, I'm not stupid, not even blind, you know. You meet alone, just you and her, you know, and both of you act oddly but at the same time you seem to be happier than ever. At least Millie does, I know her longer than I know you. So it's not so difficult to put together one and one and realize what is going on actually.
Now Bob was laughing at how smart Kate was.
- You're just too clever to be a shop assistant in a music store.
- I know, Bob. - she laughed too. Then her face grew seious and she looked into Bob's light blue eyes deeply.
- I know, you love her from the bottom of your heart, I could tell it for the first time you met and I know you're a caring and kind person, so I'm sure she's in good hands now, but you should be careful. I don't know how things go with vampires, I mean to be in love with one, just take care of her, please. Don't hurt her, don't break her heart and don't let any other vampire close to her, if you know what I mean. She went through so much bad things lately that she wouldn't be able to survive one more severe blow.
She looked away for a few minutes and went to silence. She was thinking about Millie, their argument and how she could solve their problems, but she didn't know the answer. She brushed off those thoughts and turned to Bob again.
- I know, I don't know anything about you or your world but I wanna make sure, things won't be messed up and Millie won't be hurt again.
- I totally understand you for fearing for Millie and I'm glad you feel like this. It means that you're a really good friend of hers and I'm glad you're here for her. And you're right, I really do love her and don't wanna hurt her in any way but I'm a little bit worried, too. I'm scared of myself... - he was gazing at the floor - I'm afraid of myself hurting her. That's why I don't wanna meet her so many times, this way I have less chance to hurt her, but it kills me because I wanna be with her all the time. When I'm with her I can't see anything else but her, and when I'm not with her I always think of her. Even my dreams are about her! - he was shocked how honest he was with Kate. He didn't talk about his feelings before, not even with Frank, and now he tells everything Katie. But he trusted her, he knew he can. Katie looked into his eyes again while taking his hands.
- I trust you, Bob. - she said and it meant a lot to him. He caught the sadness in her eyes and knew it was because of Frankie. He felt ashamed, she just told him that she trusted him and he already played her false. He looked at her with sympathy and pulled her in a hug.
- I know, you'll never let her down or hurt her in any way. - she finished her sentence.
Little they knew that it's not Millie who will suffer...

Frank was standing in the bus station where he supposed to meet this girl, Pandora. He was smoking. He leaned to the side of the hut in the station made of aluminium and was puffing on his cig. He knit his eyebrows in concentration when he inhaled the smog and he did the same when he exhaled, but now he did it because of the pleasure. He loved smoking. He checked his watch in almost every minute, he was nervous and excited at the same time. He didn't have a girlfriend for so long ages and now he hoped that this girl will save him from the eternal loneliness. He wanted this so much that he would rather kill himself ( if he could ) than to spen even one more day alone. She was from his kind, so he didn't have to care about anything, neither about the danger nor about the differences between them.
The wind started to blow hard and it made the aluminium covering banging on the metal truss as it wasn't fixed well. It made so much noise that Frank had to cover his ears with his hands because he heard it louder than the mortals as he had special senses. He turned up the collar of his jacket to protect his neck from the cold wind. Not because he really felt the cold, but it was habitualed from his former life. He checked his watch once more, it was exactly one more minute later than the last time he checked it. He became more nervous as the time passed and the girl didn't come. She was already 15 minutes late and Frank started to worry: what if she's fooling him and never comes here? He didn't want to be fooled, but who wants to be? He was still standing in the hut as if there weren't any problem, but inside he almost blew on his top.
When Pandora was already 20 minutes late, he put another cig in his now dry mouth and as he lighted it, red flames appeared in his eyes. His eyes were smouldering, it seemed like the flames of the Hell's fire were dancing in them. Frank couldn't believe that he was so fool to think that a girl like her really wanted to be with him and this thought made him angry and sad at the same time. He started to walk away but after a few meters he stopped. There was she, with her beautiful face and perfect body. He was speechless, the smog was kept inside his lungs and it made him cough. He was gazing at Pandora, he found her even more beautiful than when they first met. He looked her up and down to discover every detail of her: she had shoulder length black hair with many colours in it, shocked. She was slit-eyed and her eyes were grey-ish, and she had full, red lips, pierced twice on the bottom corners. Her red lips made a big contrast with her milk-white skin, she was like a porcelain doll with ...fangs. Despite the fact that it was winter she wore a black mini skirt with shiny black boots reaching up to her thighs and with a coat of course.
- I'm sorry, Frankie-pie, my food almost ran away so I had to catch it. - she said cheekily and started to laugh.
- Ok, forgiven. - he smiled - So, where do you want to go?
- Well, I live nearby, so we can go there if you don't mind. - he said coquettishly.
- It's ok with me. - he said simply pretending that he's not as excited as he actually was. Her attitude and her sweet scent betrayed him totally but he wanted a real partner not just fun so he wanted to get to know her before they started a serious relationship. Pandora led him to a fancy flat, it was just like her: colourful, beautiful and seductive. She closed the front door behind them and Frank just wanted to ask where to put his jacket when the girl turned to him and started do undress him quickly. First she took off his jacket and pushed him against the wall and pressed her lips against his. She kissed him fiercely. Frank was surprised and he didn't want things happen so fast but he let himself to be seducted and he kissed back hungrily. Pandora relieved him of most of his clothes, kissing every bare part of his body. She then led him to her bedroom and pushed him to the bed in a rough way. She stood in front of him and started to undress herself so slowly that it almost killed Frankie. When she finished she went closer to him and ripped his boxers off of him with one single movement. The flames appeared in Frank's eyes again but this time not from anger but from lust, repressed for too many years. She was on top of him, Frank put his hands on the back of her neck and pulled her closer to kiss her ardently.
She bit his lower lip while pulling it a little bit and Frankie let out a weak moan in pleasure of the pain. He ran his hands over her body, learning every detail of it then he hold on to her waist and turned her to her back to be on top of her. She started to kiss her neck slowly then he went down to her breasts to cover them with all of his 'hot' kisses. She wrapped her arms around his back and lodged her nails into his skin and his blood started to run down on it. Their breathing sped up and they started to move together between moans and screams. Their bodies were fused but they didn't make love, they were having sex, wild, inhuman sex. They bit each other, their pale skin was covered in blood. She sucked his blood from his lower lip and Frank bit her breast, licking her blood from her cold, white skin. He savoured the mixture of her metallic blood and the salty sweat but it just turned him on even more.
He was surprised at the fact that this girl, he hardly knew, could turn him on this much and how his brutal, cruel and lustful ego outcropped. Actually it wasn't him, it's his vampire alter ego, but who could blame him for acting like this if he didn't have any 'emotional' experience like this for decades and now, as this girl treated him, made him want to make up for the missed opportunities. But really, who could blame him for it; after all, he's just a man!
By the end of the night Pandora was screaming his name in pleasure and when they finished, they were just lying on the bloody and sweaty sheets with a lustful and satisfied grin on their faces...
